Author I proudly blogged about coffee flavored tea last February, and then I tasted it. Oh no, what had I done? It was awful. The best description I can come up with is nauseating.
Today, I had taste experience number 2, as I found a sample from my premier tea supplier that I hadn’t opened yet and didn’t even realize I had it in my possession. It was coffee latte flavored tea. The ingredients list contains black tea, cocoa bean, and coffee bean.
Now understand, this company is amazing; their product is the main earner at my tea store. So I figured that I was going to have a totally different experience than I had with the cheap coffee flavored tea from China.
Wrong. Same flavor. Disguised a bit, this time, but nevertheless that same awful taste.
So now I know. Coffee tea is just plain wrong. I’ve removed it from the shelves, and I just won’t do it.

Was it foolhardy of me to open up a tea shop in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S.?
After all, everyone knows that Pacific Northwesterners are die-hard coffee addicts.
I’ve actually had people come into my tea store and announce that they’re not tea drinkers. Others have slunk in mournfully and asked me what I could recommend for them as the worst had happened: their doctor had told them that they must give up drinking coffee.
I recently came across a tea from China that is flavored with, yep, that’s right, coffee! Coffee flavored tea; all the health benefits of tea without giving up that addictive roasted bean flavor.
To set the record straight, of course, there are many tea drinkers in this part of the world, and I’m often amazed at how knowledgeable many of my customers are when it comes to tea; however, today was the first day that coffee flavored tea was up on my shelves, and lo and behold, of the myriad of teas that I offer, it was that one that made my first sale of the day.
