Hello and welcome!
I’m Roland Petrov, a tea connoisseur and owner of ExoticTeaStore.com and the Tea & Treasure store in Coupeville, WA.
A Brief History Of Tea
Tea (Camelia sinensis) is a delightful beverage as well as a healthy one. When some stray leaves from a camelia tree blew into Chinese Emperor Shen Nung’s freshly boiled drinking water while he was out on a picnic, he immediately noticed the pleasant fragrance; this prompted him to leave the leaves in the cup and drink the resulting brew, the world’s first cup of tea.
After drinking it he felt that bright pick-me-up effect, and it didn’t take him long before he was making astonishing health claims for tea.
Steaming and roll-drying of the camelia leaves made the drink more palatable, and soon it went from a medicinal drink for royalty to a refreshment for the masses.
When tea spread to India, the “fermentation” process to make deliciously satisfying black tea was discovered, and today tea is second only to water as the favorite beverage on earth.
Healthy Tea
With the discovery of the antioxidant power of green tea, many started drinking tea again mainly for its health benefits. More recently it has been discovered that black tea actually has at least as much antioxidant power as green tea. So enjoy every tea party for its particular taste and elegance, and do it for your health!

Hello, my family and I visited Coupeville a few months ago, and we very much enjoyed the teas we purchased from you. However, I made the mistake of forgetting to buy a jar of your honey and ginger “tea.” I live on Bainbridge Island, and I have looked everywhere for it, to no avail.
Would you be willing either to sell some to me and send it, or tell me the name of the maker so that I can look for it elsewhere?
Thank you,
Sarah Pearl
This type of instant jam-like “tea” is available at most large oriental grocery stores, especially those featuring Korean products.
Hi Roland – Will you be selling Christine’s shortbreads thru your site as well? Just curious…
Thanks
